Dr Audrey Hickey
Audrey is a Dentist who graduated in 2003 from University College Cork with honors in dentistry and has a Masters of Science in Orthodontics from the University of Warwick.
After a year of vocational training, she has worked in general dental practice and currently owns and operates the No 8 Clinic on Limerick’s Shannon Street. Over the years, she has trained in many aspects of General Dentistry, including advanced restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and implants. Following an interest in orthodontics, Audrey successfully completed a Masters of Science degree in Orthodontics in the University of Warwick, which while not a specialist qualification, is a four year part-time post-graduate qualification. Audrey believes that orthodontics is not just about ‘fixing bites’, but is centered on creating a beautiful, attractive smile that is holistic with the patients face and occlusion. A strong background in cosmetic dentistry leads to seeing the face and the smile as a complete picture. Audrey takes a keen interest in all of her patients, both personally and professionally.
Audrey is committed to ongoing professional development.She has recently been awarded an Honorary post as a Clinical Teaching Fellow in the University of Warwick’s orthodontic department.
Dr Barry Hickey
In 2000 Barry was awarded an Honors degree in Microbiology from the University of Cork, Ireland. He then moved to Scotland to begin studying dentistry, graduating in 2005 with a commendation.
The following years were spent gaining general practice experience before returning to hospital for training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Children’s Dentistry and complex Restorative care. During that time Barry continued his studying and gained an MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons & Physicians of Glasgow in 2007.
In 2008 Barry was accepted onto the highly competitive Wessex Deanery Orthodontics training course and spent the following three years in full time training to become a Specialist Orthodontist. In the course of his training Barry was awarded a Masters degree in Orthodontics from the University of Bristol and the specialist orthodontist qualification of MOrth from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2011.
Barrys orthodontic training focused non-extraction treatment, high quality results and modern treatment techniques. He has continued this treatment philosophy in practice and aims to produce the kind of smile all his patients can be proud of. Barry is Audrey’s brother. He is a specialist Orthodontist and has worked with Audrey on complex cases for almost seven years. Barry consults on all complex orthodontic cases in OrthoClinic and visits the clinic throughout the year.
